World Humanitarian Day 2019 was set to celebrate unsung heroes, who have long been working on the front lines in their own communities – Women Humanitarians. We saw it as a time to salute the efforts of women in Amuwo-Odofin, who rally to people in need and tell stories of their undying contribution to making the world a better place. These women deserved to be celebrated. They are needed today as much as ever to strengthen the global humanitarian response at large.
Survey was conducted in the community, several women were nominated and their stories shared, and the team came up with 5 nominees with super humanitarian stories. These #WonderWomen were paid a courtesy visit upon selection and eventually honored in public and on a bigger AmuwoCarol 2019 stage which hosted the community in the annual carol concert held on Christmas eve on that year.
